As the annual centerpiece of the London Design Festival, Decorex International gives an unparalleled opportunity to the design-minded community to discover the works of the best home décor manufacturers, sets up the stage for new trends, and/or re-establishes the existing ones. In this article, we’ve cherry-picked 5 stunning features of 2018’s Decorex, that will blow you away!

Metallics

Yes, the trend for metallics and luxury continues to build. Those adorable brass details of BRABBU’s lighting design, LUXXU’s Empire XL mirror, and asymmetrical polished brass tubes of PullCast will prove you that!

Nature-Inspired Elements

Designers from SERIP Organic Lighting with their one-of-a-kind chandeliers, Kaori Tatebayashi with their ceramics, PullCast with their waterfall-like lamp, and Tord Boontje with their moon-inspired standing lamp, to name just a few, know a thing or two about inviting that eternal splendor of nature into any home.

Block Colors

Though the trend for pastels and understated tones is still strong, Decorex has demonstrated that bolder hues begin to dominate. Thus, so-called block colors were represented by Smeg that took bold to a whole new level.

Colorful Prints

Many of the Decorex stands were looming with colorful prints this year. Aiming to push the aesthetic boundaries, The Monkey Puzzled Tree — the luxury fabric and wallcoverings maker — made a huge splash with their naughtiest prints. Meanwhile, Blackpop has teamed up with Sir John Soane’s Museum to rework the latter’s artworks into a series of multi-layered abstract wallpaper and fabric prints.

Transformative Nature of Time

Glithero explores the transformative nature of time. Their rugs, botanical tiles, and hand-turned vases fuse innovative techniques with conceptual meaning. The similar motifs can be also found in Riviere’s Rajasthan Transitional collection.
