5 reasons why you should invest in mosaic tile flooring asap
In the sea of laminate, hardwood, vinyl, and granite floors spotted with colorful islands of carpets and rugs, (omg I’m a poet), one thing is certain — you will either slip or catch a mite or dust allergy. Now that we’ve started on a positive note, lemme solve all of your problems for you — mosaic tile flooring. You’re welcome.
If you are an avid reader of this blog you already know that I’m always right, so you probably don’t need convincing. However, if you are a newbie here, you’ll probably need some explanation on why mosaic tile rugs are better than any other flooring. So, first of all, hello there newbie, welcome to the most fabulous corner of the internet. Now here’s why I’m right…
One of the first arguments of carpet fans is the arabesque designs and colorful patterns you’ll lose if you leave your floor naked. First of all, there is nothing wrong with artistic nudity (Self-love ppl!) and secondly, it’s not our fault if your naked floor is dingy. If you prefer trapped pollen, disgusting microscopic insect parts, aggressive mites, pet dander, and such, over some naked flooring, then you do you, we won’t judge. The world is full of latent masochists. However, with mosaic floors, you can have the best of both worlds. Allergen-free artwork of a design. Mosaic tiles can’t trap carpet-loving irritants and even your most sensitive family members and friends will breathe freely in your home. One disadvantage of mosaic flooring would be that your fam and friends would probably love visiting. If you are not a social butterfly, just lock the door and admire your mosaic floors in silence. There, problem solved.
Carpets have to be washed every two or three months, hardwood floors polished every week, granite floor scrubbed monthly, and mosaic tile floors? Well if you notice some dust just wipe it off with a wet towel or something. Uh-huh. That simple. No need to obsess over what product to use, what type of cleaning mop works best, how long should it stay soaked, etc.
Yes, I said safety. There’s a myth out there that mosaic tiles are slippery and that is just not true. Even polished mosaic tiles are not slippery and here is why: there are usually 2mm of grouted spaces between individual pieces of tiles. Grout makes even the shiniest most polished mosaic floors non-slippery. Grouted spaces do exactly the same trick as anti-slip tapes on regular floors, the difference is you don’t have to invest additional cash into anti-slip tapes. Not to mention that there is a variety of mosaic tiles with textured finishes if you like a more matte look on your floors. Now go and polish your flat marble flooring and try walking in socks, or do the same with your lacquered wooden floor, if you like living dangerously…
Mosaic tiles are Michael Myers-level resistant. Chemicals can’t harm them, they are virtually non-porous and, unlike the variety of their competition, mosaic tiles don’t form mold or mildew over time. Sure, they can be chipped in some extreme cases. For example, let’s say you are one of the main faces of the #freebritney movement and her father hires mercenaries from eastern Europe to gun you down. They come to your house in the middle of the night shooting from their Mk 48s, thereby chipping your gorgeous mosaic flooring in the process. Of course, the forces of everything that’s good and kind protect you and you manage to escape unscathed, but you end up having to replace some of your chipped tile pieces. So, yeah. They can be damaged in EXTREME cases. On the same note, your investment s truly justified, especially compared to other types of flooring you would have to replace or renovate completely from time to time.
Mosaic tiles are available in a wide range of materials, colors, and patterns. Ceramic, glass, marble, quartz, travertine, slate, you name it, and combining these various categories will bring more dramatic flair into any space. Opting for combining various types of tiles is also great for small spaces where the usage of color and details is limited. Mosaic flooring will add panache and glam to a small room like no carpet or hardwood floor ever could.
There you go newbie, now you know. Now go choose a pattern for your mosaic flooring.
