Creating your perfect kitchen mosaic backsplash
Best Kitchen backsplash ideas & inspiration
God help us, it’s that time of the year again… No, I’m not talking about the spring coming and us being fat. It’s not that kind of blog. I’m talking about kitchen renovations.
So, needless to say, since I’m interested in interior design and all that jazz, I started googling to check out the latest trends all over the world. Now let me tell you something, I don’t know if these trendsetters think we’re all millionaires, but all of the trends I’ve seen would involve us, ordinary people, selling our firstborn. I mean, who do they think we are? Angelina Jolie’s kids? However, there are certain things you can and should do if your beloved kitchen is starting to fall apart. I’ll try not to burden you too much, cuz I know you’re already dieting, nervous and tired. It’s just that time of the year…
If you’re one of those people (yes, I roll my eyes as I type this) that still have naked walls or wallpaper in their kitchen, then it is time to think about a more economic and aesthetic solution. When I say “economic”, I mean permanent. Once you decide to put some tile mosaic artwork on your kitchen walls, you won’t have to think about any major renovations in your kitchen for the next decade or so. No more grease stains, no more yellow spots, no more painting and replacing wallpaper every year.
You can opt for simple mosaics tiles and one flashy kitchen mosaic backsplash to add a touch of vibrancy, or maybe even controversy? C’mon people, it’s the 21st century, there is nothing wrong with some controversy! Just ask the Kardashian’s! I bet Jordyn Woods is about to have a major breakthrough in her career, and same goes for your kitchen if you decide to add some sass to it. If your kitchen is all muted and neutral, then a bright-colored mosaic backsplash is exactly what you need.
If you’re more of a subdued (I mean in terms of color, calm down “50 shades” fans) kind of person, so you would rather go for pastel and matchy-matchy tones, there is plenty to choose from as well. If you are not sure what to go for, soft floral designs, as well as scenes from nature created with a tile mosaic artwork, are always a good solution. You can also always go with something abstract and artsy as well, to achieve a sophisticated look.
Lastly, sorry if this post feels a bit ranty, but in my defense, living on 3 green peas a day can be a little exhausting. This whole dieting thing is killing my artistic expression. I’ll hit you up again next week when I will hopefully be 6 pounds lighter and more collected. Until then, here’s one more thing to contemplate…
Honorable mentions
I might be a bit delusional, but I do realize that your kitchen isn’t just walls. Needless to say, if the doors of your kitchen cabinets are hanging loose, it’s probably a good time to think about renovating them. In my opinion, if you still love your old cabinets, you can save some cash by detaching them from the kitchen walls yourself and restoring them. If you are savvy with sander and paint, you can always do the restoration yourself. Take a few days off and start drinking some Valerian tea, cuz I heard you’ll need some patience. On the other hand, if you are well aware that you’ll mess everything up, just pack your old cabinets into a pick-up truck and take them to the nearest carpenter.
