Home office walls: How to always be ready for your Zoom meeting
Most of us are pretty much home office-oriented when it comes to working at this point. From freelancers to corporate workers and teachers, everyone seems to be at home, doing their thing from improvised or full-blown home offices.
Aside from the general necessity of a work desk, office chair, and your laptop, one of the major essentials in every modern home office is the background, aka the wall behind you. Aside from your fabulous face, your boss, your coworkers, your clients and everyone else you are talking to are going to see the wall behind you as well.
Are boring solutions even solutions?
So let’s make ourselves look completely uninteresting by painting it grey, huh? Or let’s look like a psycho by hanging a vintage embossed axe there? Or maybe plaster a floral wallpaper and look like a local Karen? No? I thought so. And before those grey-axe-wallpaper-loving folks among you start spewing hate in the comment section, I don’t think there is anything wrong with covering your walls with the said objects, just NOT your office walls. Capiche?
So what would be appropriate or even thrilling to see on a home-office wall you wonder? Well, most people first check out their local galleries or talented street painting sellers, for some glorious and inspiring canvas masterpiece. And that is completely fine. And expected. Good for you! (pssst, boooooriiiing)
Mural
There is nothing wrong with doing exactly what everyone else is doing. And maybe you are just an avid fan of painted art, and that’s great. But how about adding a twist to that, just to avoid being same-ole? How about a mural? Yes, all over your office wall! It’s a form of painting as well, just much cooler than what you were originally going for.
Street art
Ummm, graffiti! Yep, street art on your office wall. You will always look cool and pop-cultured, your wall is bound to be noticed and your trendiness commented. What more could you want from an office wall? As for the topic of graffiti art, you can go for anything you want. Your favorite quote, phrase, or statement, your favorite DC hero, or something abstract involving your favorite colors. And don’t be afraid of looking unprofessional. As long as it is not vulgar, it will only make look interesting and add another layer to your (already fabulous) personality.
Mosaic borders
If you want to be a bit more traditional, but obvious with your statement-making, framing your favorite quotes is also the way to go. Just remember to a lil somethin-somethin to your frames, so your wall doesn’t end up looking generic and your quotes unnoticed. On that note, mosaic borders are always the way to go. They are sure to grab your interlocutor’s attention, so the effect you are trying to make won’t go unnoticed. Any topic will do, whether it be a glorious landscape, a magnificent piece of architecture, a portrait, or a flora and fauna scene.
