The Glorious Charm of Fall Mosaic Artworks
So, as you already know, your girl is a huge advocate of that good ole notion that you can find art in virtually anything. mosaic art is no exception. Mosaic can depict anything and it can be made of anything and that is the beauty of it. Any mosaic artist will tell you that is not easy but if you truly love creating — the sky is the limit. But the sky is kinda grey these days, huh? (omg my bridges are better than Taylor Swift’s!) It’s kinda rainy and kinda gloomy, but it goes nicely with the golden and fiery hues. Needles to say, the beautiful Fall season is here.
If you were to make a mosaic made of autumn things it would be an eclectic mish-mash of carved pumpkins, umbrellas, thanksgiving turkeys, sweaters, rubber boots, and leaves. Tons and tons of orange, brown, and yellow leaves. So this article is dedicated to those avid Fall fans among you. Those that would cozy up under a blanket with a good book while the rain is having a gentle concert outside. Those of you that would trick and treat and drink pumpkin-spice-lattes all year round if it was up to them. Basically, those of you that are like me. So let’s color this mosaic article with gorgeous autumn colors and let’s chat about how you can bring this wonderful season into your home through mosaic art, so you can have a chunk of it throughout the whole year.
If I was to pick one thing that would symbolize this marvelous season, that would be a golden leaf. The leaf is one of the most frequently used motifs in mosaic art. Its design can range from simplistic to highly complex, as well as realistic to highly decorative. Colors can also vary and you can pick any color from the spectrum, so possibilities when it comes to playing with the design are virtually endless.
Any mosaic artist will tell you that every great autumn mosaic starts from a single leaf. That one leaf will end up being just one of many in the artistic autumn composition, and they can all be shaped from the same tile or a variety of different tiles. Unlike various other objects that are often displayed in mosaic artwork, leaves are actually pretty hard to make without a set of tools and skills. For example, cutting curves with edges facing outwards is done by creating a series of tiny nips with wheeled nippers. Needless to say, hiring a mosaic artist is recommended.
So if you’ve decided to treat your living room wall with a glorious Fall mosaic, I would suggest going full throttle. Make it grand, with a bunch of golden hues and earthy tones and a drop of red here and there. It’s your favorite season on just one wall, so you’re allowed to relish in it properly.
If on the other hand, you would like to just shyly make your statement as an autumn lover, there is also a myriad of options to do it. Switch a couple of your bathroom tiles with some embellishing mosaic oak leaves (my favorite). Choose a bright color that will pop, so it won’t look misplaced, but refreshing.
You can also hang smaller size framed mosaic leaves anywhere in your home. They can be made of shiny tiles or broken mirror pieces, so they look like a piece of art on their own, and not a segment of a bigger composition.
If you are not about to cash in on a bigger mosaic piece at this moment, the next best thing you can do is frame your boring old mirror or a vacation pic by using one of many autumn-inspired marvelous bordures.
